About

I consider myself primarily to be a tonal painter and I am hugely inspired by the effects of light & nature. I constantly aspire to challenge what I know in order to develop a greater understanding.

I studied at Bradford Art College with a traditional approach, encouraging good draughtsmanship & design. Mainly working in soft pastel which I love for its immediacy & vibrancy and I equally adore watercolour & oil which helps to keep everything fresh.

My work has been exhibited at numerous exhibitions within the UK including the National Exhibition of Wildlife and with The Society of Wildlife Artists at the prestigious Mall Galleries, in London. I have won various awards for my work

I feel I must acknowledge some people that have made a huge difference to me in my journey of becoming a professional artist. First of all my family, without hesitation and without whose encouragement, understanding and support, I wouldn't be able to fulfil my ambitions. Thank you.
Three, very different but talented artists. Martin Dutton, for his patience and encouragement, all those years ago; John Mackie, for his enthusiasm; Jeremy Taylor, for his stimulation & guidance and an unbelievable depth of knowledge.
Thank you all for indulging me and sharing your wisdom.
